Westview Promenade is a 211,000 square foot Theatre-anchored Shopping/Entertainment Complex which is designed in an outdoor promenade fashion. This project was the second Retail Shopping Center in Frederick County approved in the MXD zone. This issue alone presented many challenges in dealing with the nature of the "MXD" retail section of the Frederick County Zoning ordinance.

 

Specifically, the issues regarded avoidance of a "big box" or "strip mall" appearance. These issues required working closely with the developer, end users, archeological/historical consultant, geotechnical engineer, architect, and county agencies to provide all information necessary for the innovative designs, and to quickly obtain approvals necessary for the expedient and successful completion of this retail center.
